There is no one more excited than me.
Eighteen years ago, when I got married, a blender was one of our wedding gifts. Fast forward to last week, I researched a new blender – one that would actually blend things that the 2013 mom wants to hide include in her kids smoothies. Kale. Broccoli. Nuts. And tons of fruit.
I ended up with this Breville, mostly because my husband said, “you deserve it!” But also because I had these credit card points that made it basically free.
For the past few days, we’ve been blending everything in sight, and making a dozen trips to the grocery store for more kale. Black kale, flowering kale, plain old kale. I finally decided to just take a whole bunch of it and blend it down, put it in ice cube trays, and freeze it for a rainy day. Gross, right? And you are not alone, if you are surprised with my new give my kids green leafy vegetables attitude. I am totally not that mom, that make-your-own-baby-food-mom, that bake-your-own-bread-mom, that get-up-early-and-make-a-hot-breakfast-mom. But, seriously, my kids are in LOVE with smoothies that are green.
oh, and PS, I pureed some carrots too. You can stick those in just about anything – smoothies, pasta sauce, hamburgers, pizza.
