cabin in the woods printable party

When I realized my twentieth wedding anniversary would fall in the same week as our annual family vacation to our local mountains, I knew it was time to start planning a major Cabin in the Woods party!

My husband and I met about a million years ago. While dating and engaged and newly married, we spent so much time at my family cabin in Green Valley Lake. This is a place that means a great deal to us, and is deeply enmeshed in our history. So, what better way to celebrate 20 years than inviting up close family and having a very casual party? My old family cabin is long since gone, but we found a gorgeous rental right on the lake. The front yard was the perfect size for our group, and even came with picnic tables ready to set!

Let’s just start with those picnic tables – plenty of seating and fun to decorate! Centerpieces made of vintage finds like enamelware cookware and log cabin syrup tins. Copper paint tipped pine cones and copper spray painted stand up frames sat atop plaid flannel runners. Our place settings were comprised of a bamboo plate charger, a pie tin, a napkin, a paper food tray (part of our printable collection) and bamboo cutlery wrapped in a piece of plaid fabric. A water bottle with a coordinating wrap sat next to the plate, ready for action!

Now, because this was a Cabin in the Woods wedding anniversary party, I knew exactly what I needed from my favorite wedding-details-shop-extraordinaire, Delovely Details (who also happens to be my cousin). A wooden cutout hanging banner, with our names, would be a show stopper! Displayed against a copper colored fabric backdrop and wrapped with strings of copper wire twinkle lights. I also took a page from a good friend who recently used braided fabric on her dessert table backdrop, and braided tons of plaid flannel for dimension and color contrast. You can not have a beautiful and functional dessert table without a beautiful and functional table cover. I have used Tablevogue table cloths for several years now, and trust me when I say you need one. They look great and are practically bulletproof, washer then dryer then ready for the table.

In dreaming up this party design, I was obsessed with using copper. Copper in color and in metal! So, I made sure there were plenty of copper accents to go along with plenty of yummy treats! That delicious s’mores cake from Meringue Bake Shop was the perfect spot to display our original wedding cake topper. Our mini bride and groom figurines have been appearing on my family’s wedding cakes for 3 generations – I feel so lucky to have them!

Wood grain textured chocolate covered oreos by Roni’s Sugar Creations added a POP of red while simultaneously making everyone’s mouths water. Cookie cups in two flavors, peanut butter with chocolate buttercream and snicker doodle with cinnamon cream cheese buttercream were. just. yum.

And if you know me, and my entire family, you understand we can’t have a party without pie. Always pie. This pie-in-a-jar was made with fresh peaches, pie crust pieces and cardamom cream cheese mousse.

Vintage jars were perfect for some snacks to much on while we waited for dinner – the kids took the opportunity to fill their paper food trays with everything BUT the veggie chips. Weird, am I right?

Also on the table is that gorgeous teardrop shaped beverage dispenser. I found some inexpensive stemless wine glasses and used copper craft paint on the outside. My family is full of very funny people, people who like to talk – so you can imagine how many times we had to refill our glasses for an endless toast!
