Milk and Cookies for Santa recipe

By the time Santa makes it to our house -here in Southern California- he is famished. We make sure to take care of him with this STACK of sugar cookies; a legitimate family recipe.

While we don’t recommend upsetting Jolly Ole Nick, we also wouldn’t blame you if you ate them before he had the chance shimmy down your fireplace. I mean, do you know how many calories are burned assembling bikes? Tons. So don’t be afraid to sneak a few in yourself…You’ve earned it.

Sugar Cookie Recipe
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon good quality vanilla extract

Combine flour and baking powder and set aside. In a separate bowl “cream” butter and sugar in an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla and mix for an additional minute. Slowly mix in the flour mixture until the dough is well blended and pulling away from the sides of the bowl. Mix with hands for a few more minutes to make sure it is truly blended. Place in a large resealable bag for 2 hours in the fridge. When firm and cold put on a surface prepped with flour, place a piece of parchment paper on top, and roll out to an even level. Cut out shapes with a cookie cuter, place on a cookie sheet with parchment paper, and bake for 8-10 minutes (or until slightly brown.)

Royal Frosting Recipe
4 Tablespoons Meringue Powder
4 cups powdered sugar
6 Tablespoons warm water

Mix together until firm.

We decorated our adorable cookies with white royal, green gel frosting, and red sprinkles…enjoy!
