With back to school time upon us, what better time is there to create a beautifully organized study station? And at the same time THROW OUT ALL THE KIDS OLD CRAP. Was that a little strongly worded? Because what I mean to say is, I don’t know about you, but my kids are a couple of mini-horders.

Let me back up… A few days ago my daughter asked when we would be doing our school supply shopping. And while I LOVE back to school season – with the smell of new crayons and the look of perfectly pink erasers – there was simply no way I would bring more STUFF into our homework/study/project area. Let me show you what I mean:

So. Much. Stuff. Trash, crap, used up nothing – in addition to bits and pieces of broken junk and do dads that have been in this pile for more longer than my son has been alive-I kid you not. And he is 9. So what is a crafty party girl to do? Well, to start, craft. Take every old crayon, dried up marker, weird toy thingy and glue it to a canvas from the craft closet. See what I mean?

And after your daughter has used up TWO bottles of Elmer’s making her “Sea Scape” (can you see it now?), then throw all the rest of the junk out. 3 garbage bags for the trash and 2 for the donate pile! Be sure to have the kids help tho – really, it’s important for them to learn to let go ( I heard that on the Horders show).

After all the clean up, and the trip to Target for more glue, #2 pencils and these FUN boxes for organizing, I grabbed a new/old shelf and put all the necessities. And only the necessities!

See? It is a beautifully organized study station! All it needs now is a little study-er to use it. And keep it clean – ahhh… a mom can dream, right?
